Ashique Shahir is an award-winning writer, director, cinematographer, and editor based in upstate New York. He holds an MFA in Film from Syracuse University and an MA in Mass Communication from Jamia Millia Islamia University, New Delhi. His films have screened in Italy, Turkey, India, and the United States.
As a filmmaker, Ashique builds intimate portraits of resilience — tracing how individual journeys intersect with broader societal struggles. His lens gravitates toward the quiet dignity of working-class lives and the layered experiences of diasporic communities, exploring themes of displacement, survival, and identity. A background in both photography and cinematography informs how he approaches the image — in narrative film, documentary, and commercial work alike, he brings the same attention to the frame and the same instinct for visual storytelling.

His commercial and branded work draws on that same visual foundation — guiding projects from concept through final delivery, working with clients and creative teams to shape brand ideas into visual stories, and producing for broadcast and digital platforms, including platform-native content for social media.
